Red poha or flattened red rice is made from red rice by pressing it. Depending on the pressure applied the thickness of the poha can be altered. Thick beaten rice absorbs more liquids and hence retains the flavours. This is nutritionally superior when compared to White poha or white flakes. Red poha is rich in iron content and is also easy to digest. Other popular names are Avalakki, Rice flakes flattened rice, beaten rice, poha, atukulu and aval. Very easy to cook and is convenient to make variety of quick snacks.
